EPL the priority but Europa League is also important: Emery
Arsenal manager Unai Emery insisted that they will not be taking the Europa League lightly, as the Gunners embark on their European campaign.
The Gunners host Ukrainian side FC Vorskla Poltava tomorrow morning (Singapore time) in Group E, where they will also face Azerbaijan's Qarabag and Portugal's Sporting Lisbon.
Emery is widely regarded as a specialist in the Europa League - European clubs' second-tier competition - having won it three times with Sevilla.
While admit that the English Premier League will be their priority, he also insisted that other competitions are important too.
He said at a pre-match press conference yesterday: "The Premier League is the first competition because it's giving us a big responsibility, maybe bigger than the others, in the season.
"There are 38 matches, so your first analysis is like this. Other competitions are very important too.
"Today, we are only thinking about giving our supporters the first performance and a good 90 minutes on the pitch at the Emirates."
The Gunners are entering a hectic period with four home games in nine days. They host Everton in the EPL on Sunday, Brentford in the League Cup next Thursday morning before playing Watford on Saturday.
