Klopp gets cheeky about Mignolet blunder
It’s hard to not like Juergen Klopp.
His affable personality and candid replies make him a favourite with the media.
Nothing is out of bounds with the German, not even poking fun at his own player, as goalkeeper Simon Mignolet found out.
Liverpool beat Bordeaux 2-1 in the Europa League on Thursday (Nov 26) to reach the last 32 with a game to spare, but they had to do it the hard way.
The culprit was Mignolet, who held the ball in the penalty box for a whole 22 seconds, which resulted in referee Alon Yefet applying the seldom-used six-second rule.
Henri Saivet scored from the indirect free-kick to give the visitors the lead, before Liverpool hit back with goals from James Milner (penalty) and Christian Benteke.
It was all Klopp needed to embarrass Mignolet at the post-match press conference.
