Four-time European champions Ajax Amsterdam missed out on the Champions League group stage, after losing 4-1 to Rostov.
Roared on by a fervent home crowd, the Russian side took a 2-0 half-time lead through headers by Sardar Azmoun and Aleksandr Erokhin.
Christian Noboa bundled in a third before Dmitri Poloz sent the home fans into raptures as he beat the offside trap to make it 4-0.
Davy Klaassen scored a late consolation from a penalty, but it was not enough as the Dutch champions fell in the qualifying rounds for the second season running. - Reuters.

An extra-time winner from El Arabi Hilal Soudani ensured Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb's place in Europe's top competition at the expense of Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.
Salzburg looked to be heading through after Austria international Valentino Lazaro gave them a 2-1 aggregate lead with a spectacular strike off the woodwork.
However, Dinamo forward Junior Fernandes started the comeback by finishing at the back post in the 87th minute to force extra time, when Soudani settled the tie. - Reuters.

Extra time was looming at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus, when FC Copenhagen forward Federico Santander scored to send the Danish side through.
The hosts' Pieros Sotiriou had given the Cypriot side the lead in 69th minute to cancel out a 1-0 first-leg deficit.
However, Paraguayan forward Santander had other ideas, and his cool finish in the 86th minute ensured the Danish team's advancement to the group stages of the Champions League. - Reuters.
