United target to be punished by Sporting Lisbon
Marcos Rojo is set to be punished by Sporting Lisbon amid talk of a move to Manchester United.
The versatile defender, who was one of Argentina's stars at the World Cup, refused to train with his teammates at the Portuguese club and has submitted a transfer request to push through a move to the Old Trafford outfit, who have reportedly put in a £16 million ($33.4m) bid for his services.
However, the Portuguese side have not been impressed by the 24-year-old's actions and will proceed with disciplinary action against him as well as teammate Islam Slimani.
Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho told Sporting TV: "There is no player bigger than the club. I would not give up the honour, the club's history, for the attitudes of anyone.
"I give a piece of advice: Don't use the press, be professional.
"These two, in defence of our magnificent group, must be removed. They are subject to strong disciplinary measures.
"Both players have taken decisions that have caused sharp indiscipline at Sporting."
