Wenger hits back at Gerrard over Suarez jibe
Arsene Wenger has rejected Steven Gerrard's comments that Arsenal were not good enough to land Luis Suarez.
The Liverpool captain revealed the advice he had given to his former teammate, now with Barcelona, after the Gunners had triggered a release clause in his contract by bidding £40,000,0001 ($84m) last summer.
Gerrad had told the Uruguayan he was too good for the north London side.
Wenger, who got one over Liverpool after clinching the signing of Alexis Sanchez from the Catalonians, has now hit back at Gerrard and insisted that no player is too good for his side.
The Arsenal manager said: "You're never too good for Arsenal and Steven Gerrard knows that.
"But I can understand completely that he asked him to stay because he wanted him (Suarez) to play with him and have a chance to win the Premier League.
"But it didn't happen, and anyway, Suarez left."
