RACE 1 (1,650M)

HONG KONG FAT (1) just failed to run down rival by just a whisker over this course and distance earlier this month and can turn the tables, despite a slight three-pound swing in the weights.

OPTIMIZATION STAR (4) out-dashed rival over the 1,400m at this level in November. He'll need to lift on his past Valley form but will be rolling late.

MARVEL PLUS (12) travelled sweetly with the visors removed around midfield for rallying thirds over the Valley mile and did have excuses when going back from a wide gate in a paceless race. He remains one for the short list.

RACE 2 (1,650m)EXPECTATOR (6) had excuses from a wide alley last start with Douglas Whyte in the saddle after knocking on the door in three prior C&D starts with three different riders, including a rail hugging neck second.

FUN HEROES (7) didn't find when popped the question 18 days back at Sha Tin but had already shown his preference for the Valley when just failing to win a start earlier.

PEPPERMINT (1) continues to run on without threatening to place in five of six starts, but is coming off a fifth over 1,400m after going back from a wide gate.

RACE 3 (1,00m)BRILLIANT PROPOSAL (6) raised his game to a new level off a light weight in this grade for back-to-back C&D seconds, including a terrific nose second earlier this month. He has definite claims.

SIGHT BELIEVER (4) had been hard to fault in his opening four runs in Class 4, including two C&D wins, before stepping into this grade in December for a close third. He can't be taken lightly.

ORIENTAL PROSPER (8) stayed on a creditable C&D fourth in November before switching stables for a straight course second and with excuses in his past two outings. He's the race sleeper.

RACE 4 (1,200m)HAPPY HOMING (12) didn't click as a late call-up in a recent one-paced fourth but had been knocking on the door in two of three other C&D runs, including a fast-finishing short-head third. He's an each-way chance.

SPEEDYGONZALEZ (1) had been promising to deliver over 1,000m to a mile at both courses in eight of nine starts, before dropping back to the 1,200m at this course. He remains one of the chances.

WELL DONE (5) has been hard to run down in three starts over this C&D for a narrow victory two back and only found the class dropper Moneymaker too good last time out. He's a proven performer fresh off a break and will give them something to catch.

RACE 5 (2,200m)SUPER STRIKE (5) has been a bit unpredictable in eight outings this term but was finding the line well to just miss in a blanket finish last start over 1,800m following an earlier short-head second over this trip. He's ready to go one better.

HEI HEI POSH (2) form has held up well with three rallying place performances at both courses, including a recent neck third, following a narrow C&D win. The weight swing is against him and has a gear change to blinkers but he remains one of the chances.

MAZANDARAN (4) has been thereabouts at the finish in four of his past five starts, including a sixth over 1,800m, but is a likely improver with a drop in class and was a route winner in Ireland.

RACE 6 (1,650M)

HEART WOOD (7) was never headed when resuming over this C&D in September and then added two more fifths for good measure, before giving a cheeky sight on the speed with blinkers in a recent half-length third from two 1,400m starts. He'll take some catching.

RISING POWER (10) is still a maiden and been unpredictable in seven starts this term but did catch the eye when charging home from near last in a recent neck second after missing the kick from a wide gate. He's one of the chances.

HO WONGCHOY (11) has taken more than a few runs to find his feet but has looked good in defeat in latest two outings over this course and distance, including a recent half-length fourth after switching off from a wide draw. He'll go close.

RACE 7 (1,650m)GERONIMO MEADOW (2) has really stepped into the limelight this season, including his past three starts for a rallying second over 1,200m and two impressive come-from-behind wins over 1,400m. He's equally dangerous at the Valley and must be respected.

MAJESTIC ANTHEM (1) didn't mind a switch in venues to chalk up three victories over this C&D following an opening day win over 1,400m and hasn't performed too badly in his past two from wide gates.

WINNING MASCOT (12) has consistently worked home to finish in the thick of things in his past five C&D runs in Class Four. He'll need to find on his past Class 3 form but remains one for the short list off a light weight.

RACE 8 (1,200m)JOYFUL THE GREAT (7) did steal a win earlier in the term at Sha Tin and has been knocking on the door in three recent runs over this C&D, including a recent second. He must have claims, despite a riding change to Douglas Whyte.

MY NAME IS BOND (1) delivered an overdue win and was twice held-up for clear running in a recent third. He remains one of the chances.

SHARP HUNTER (9) has turned the corner to place in his three Valley sprints for his new trainer this term, finding only My Name Is Bond a neck too good on the line, before a rallying third when ridden cold from a wide draw. He'll make it interesting at the finish.

SCOTTSVILLE PREVIEWS

RACE 1 (1,200M)

(6) PRIVATE NUMBER made a fair debut two months back and must surely have improved. She should go close here but it is competitive and there are also unraced individuals in the hunt.

(4) FEE did well after jumping slow on debut and should relish the slightly longer trip.

(8) THUNDER QUEEN wasn't far off her after she too also lagged at the jump.

RACE 2 (1,200M)

(1) SEPHORA is so well placed she should be one of the better bets on the day. She stayed on well at the end of her last 1,200m dash and the form has already been franked.

(2) DIXIE FLYER is the one that has been close up and she has done that twice in her life and in the latter she almost won over today's trip.

(3) RAD ROCK should be right there on best form. Anything can pop up.

RACE 3 (1,400m) (9) BOLT OF LIGHT rates the good thing on the day. He wasn't given a hard time and still had the mind to progress into third on debut. Hard to oppose.

(7) NATTERJACK produced a much better run last time when just beaten. He is well prepped as that run came over this track and trip.

RACE 4 (1,600m) (7) IVANOVICH gave signs that she is an up and coming sort with a promising runner-up effort round the left-handed Clairwood track in just her second race. She is better than that.

(3) TERRYBELLE was finishing faster behind IVANOVICH last time but needs to get going sooner.

(2) BALL DANCER came on nicely over this track and trip-serious runner too.

RACE 5 (2,400m) (4) BEEWITHMEE has disappointed recently but his best recent run was over this track and trip and if the pace is on he can score.

(2) PROFESSOR X showed up well after rest behind a Clairwood specialist and is set to come on. He is a serious stayer here.

(6) SPARKLING WOOD can't be faulted.

RACE 6 (1,750m) (1) RED ROVER travelled very well up front and looked like going on to win until tagged late. He may settle better over this slightly longer trip and does meet a field he can overcome.

(4) BRASS VERDICT wasn't disgraced in his first post maiden race and seems to have a lesser task in this handicap.

(7) MR ROYAL has stable companion RED ROVER to beat but is improving at his new yard.

RACE 7 (1,000M)

A race to savour.

(9) NORMANZ was prepped to put in his fastest fractions last time. He is a pure 1,000m specialist and should make them all run. However he meets (1) MR WHATEVER who seems to live up to his name at times beating whatever especially at this track. He carries 12kg more than NORMANZ which should swing it in the latter's favour.

(2) PIANO MAN has the ability.

RACE 8 (1,200m) (8) CHESHIRE CAT needed his last race back when jumping slow and finding himself too far back at Greyville. He has more to come and could show his true form now that he is back on turf.

(2) DODGE CITY has well placed throughout his career as his rating never seems to go too high and he can go both 1,000m and 1,200m.

(7) SADHU should be at a peak and can overcome this field.

RACE 9 (1,200m) (7) LA CENERENTOLA went too far last time and back over the trip her sire 'says she should be good at' she could be hard to beat.

(1) INDIGO CHILD is in top form and she could go close after a promising last try at Clairwood.

(10) CAYENNE looked dangerous at this track last time and she should be right there from a decent draw.
