Lee Chong Wei heads to Badminton World Championships final
World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia secured his seat in the final of the BWF World Championships after beating Danish player Viktor Axelsen in two straight sets on Saturday (Aug 30).
Lee, set to win his first world title as his long-time rival Lin Dan was absent from the championship, cruised to a one-sided victory of 21-9 and 21-7 at Denmark's Ballerup Super Arena in front of an audience of over 3,000.
The other semi-final match features China’s Chen Long and Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto.
Lee said it will be "a tough game" if he meets Chen Long in the final, but said he will try his best and brushed off talk of injuries slowing him down.
