Moore's 1-2-3 in HK Classic Cup YESTERDAY'S HONG KONG (SHA TIN) RESULTS

Singapore Airlines International Cup-winning John Moore continued his domination of the Hong Kong Four-Year-Old Series with a 1-2-3 in his five-pronged attack in yesterday's domestic Group 1 Hong Kong Classic Cup over 1,800m at Sha Tin racecourse.

His charge DESIGNS ON ROME enhanced his Group 1 BMW Hong Kong Derby credentials under Tommy Berry by beating Able Friend, the mount of Joao Moreira, by one and a half lengths.

Another stablemate, Secret Sham, finished third, three and a half lengths away.

"The Derby's on the horizon," said Moore, who trained last May's SIA Cup winner, Military Attack.

"It looks as though Designs On Rome should be winning that sort of race on his run today, because there's still a little bit more improvement, and, if there is, he could be devastating.

"I'm over the moon. The ride was very tactical. It did test Able Friend's stamina and that's what won the race.

"I've had four and five runners in the Derby before but, having these two horses going into the Derby, I would have to say is the pinnacle of my career."

Designs On Rome had played second fiddle by half a length to his much-lauded stablemate, Able Friend, in the opening leg of the series last month, the Group 1 Hong Kong Classic Mile.

Moore had four runners in the other domestic Group 1 feature, but three of his horses finished 2-3-4 behind the Caspar Fownes-trained LUCKY NINE in a scintillating climax to the Chairman's Sprint Prize.

The Hong Kong champion sprinter, who captured last May's International Group 1 KrisFlyer International Sprint, showed class and grit to clinch a second consecutive victory in the 1,200m contest.

The seven-year-old held off Charles The Great by a neck, with race-favourite Sterling City a mere shorthead away in third, ahead of Frederick Engels. - HKJC.
