Min Woo joins sister as US junior champ

Australia's Lee Min Woo, 17, won the US Junior Amateur golf championship yesterday morning (Singapore time) to add another US Golf Association junior crown to the family collection.

His older sister Lee Min Jee, a two-time LPGA Tour winner slated to play for Australia at the Rio Olympics, won the US Girls' Junior title four years ago. They are the only brother-sister duo to win USGA junior titles.

Min Woo made a late rally on the Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee, shaking off two weather delays and beating 16-year-old Texan Noah Godwin 2 and 1 in the 36-hole championship match.

In Paramus, New Jersey, South Korea's Seong Eun Jeong rallied from an early deficit to beat Andrea Lee 4 and 2 in the final match to win the US Girls' Junior Championship.

Seong, 16, became the first to win back-to-back titles in the event since Hollis Stacy won her third straight in 1971. - AFP.
