Query on two winners' performances

Trainers Leslie Khoo and Mok Zhan Lun were questioned regarding the apparent improvement of Sunday's winners MASTER BANGER in Race 1 and GEARIGURU in Race 6 respectively.

Khoo said that Master Banger had failed previously when racing on the turf track over longer distances earlier in his preparation. Since realising Master Banger would be better suited over shorter distances, he had kept gelding fresh in an effort to improve the horse. He added that the field was not strong and, for this reason, he gave Master Banger a good chance.

Jason Lim, assistant trainer to Mok, Geariguru, could offer no tangible explanation other than that they had altered the gelding's training during the week in an attempt to improve his performance, and the win had surprised the stable. His explanation was noted.
