Big Brother looks nice and relaxed
BIG BROTHER, a game sort with three wins at Kranji, signalled his chances for another victory with a good stretch-out yesterday morning.
Taken out by his regular jockey Nooresh Juglall, the Patrick Shaw-trained four-year-old looked nice and relaxed as he went over 600m on the Polytrack in 41.8sec unextended.
The going was good.
Big Brother pulled up without raising a sweat and walked calmly back to the tunnel and back to his stable for a good wash and hearty breakfast.
The Argentinian-bred gelding has proven to be a money-spinner for Falcon Racing No. 3 Stable with his consistency. He finished out of the first three only three times from 12 starts.
His last-start second to Infantry on Nov 18 was full of merit. Infantry, whose win was his first since returning from his failed attempt in Seoul, South Korea, will probably start as the favourite in Sunday's $175,000 Group 3 Colonial Chief Stakes over the Poly 1,700m.
Big Brother is meeting only seven rivals in an Open Benchmark event over the Poly 1,700m in Race 5 tomorrow night.
Only three Colonial Chief Stakes contenders showed up for fast work yesterday.
Trainer Shane Baertschiger's BEST TOTHELIGN, who dead-heated with trainer Desmond Koh's Order Of the Sun last year, galloped in 37.8 with Matthew Kellady astride.
He looked fit but the top impost of 58kg is a concern.
Trainer Laurie Laxon's DANIEL (G Boss) and trainer Cliff Brown's ZEUS clocked 37.6 and 36.7 respectively. Both horses looked only fair.
