Drone can do a Lim's Zoom

Singapore best bets for Friday and Sunday

Patience is a virtue.

So, it will be better to wait until the last race tomorrow and Sunday to take the plunge.

Both my top bets - Drone and Lim's Zoom respectively - are coincidentally engaged in the final events.

Drone was a smart all-the-way winner over the Polytrack 1,000m on April 27. But he apparently went amiss and flopped at his next two starts.

The Michael Clements-trained three-year-old Australian-bred seems to have picked up the pieces again, having run two good races. On Aug 5, he led and then faded to finish third to stablemate Loving You over the Poly 1,000m.

Last time out, in a similar 1,000m sprint on the alternate track on Aug 24, he was up with the pace but found only one to beat, going down by 11/4 lengths to Dash. It must be noted that Drone suffered a check during the race, otherwise he would have gone much closer.

The chestnut gelding has since been working very well and, against a rather weak Class 4 Non Premier event over the Poly 1,000m tonight, Drone should bounce back to the winner's rostrum again.

Lim's Zoom is also engaged in a Class 4 Non Premier race - but over 1,400m on turf - on Sunday and he should make amends for his last-start defeat.

The Mark Walker-trained four-year-old New Zealand-bred is as consistent as they come. From six starts, he has a win, four seconds and a third.

The bay gelding was strongly supported last time out over the Poly 1,200m on Sept 9 but found Unconquered in galloping mood. That was his second run after a spell and it looks like this time round, Lim's Zoom will be flying home again.
