Speedy Sebas can prove hard to catch

In SEBAS, trainer Theo Kieser looks to have a good one for Sunday. The speedster impressed when winning his trial on Tuesday morning.

Ridden by Gerard Mosse, the son of Exceed And Excel claimed the lead after travelling 100m and never gave it back, winning by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

Noted for his early speed, the eight-time winner was always going too well for his rivals and, as the highest rated horse in the trial, he won in a canter.

A five-year-old with eight wins from 27 starts, Sebas is nearing the half-million dollars in earnings and could seal the deal with a win on Sunday.

Is it beyond his reach? We don't think so. After all, when not stubborn behind the gates, he has always relished these sharp sprints and his last win was over the flying 1,000m.

That day in July, he toyed with his rivals, made every post a winning one to take the race by two lengths.

Since then, he hasn't been idle and in his four trials, including this most recent one, he has put in three "wins".

So forget that last start in late September when he beat just two home. He was a bad boy that day, raised a sweat behind the gates and lost the race there.

Sent back to the trials by the stewards, Sebas was at his best behaviour on Tuesday morning and, provided he carries it over to Sunday's race, we should see him lead his rivals on a merry chase.

So watch for the swagger from Sebas. He looks in the pink of condition and should end his season on a winning note in the Kranji Stakes A event over the Polytrack 1,100m in Race 7.
