Albirex held 2-2 by Hougang
Albirex Niigata were officially crowned Singapore Premier League champions yesterday, following the conclusion of their home matches in this year's league campaign.
The Japanese side were handed the trophy, medals and cash prize of $150,000, after a 2-2 draw with Hougang United at the Jurong East Stadium.
Albirex, who have won the league for a third straight season, will conclude their SPL campaign with a visit to Warriors FC on Sept 29.
Meanwhile, second place is still up for grabs between Home United and Tampines Rovers, after Home defeated Warriors 4-3 yesterday.
