Was the late penalty call in the Lions' 3-1 defeat to Malaysia for Hafiz Abu Sujad's challenge on Amri Yahyah a harsh one?

It is hard to see in real time, but in the slow motion replay, Hafiz can be clearly seen making contact with Amri's back, although the Malaysian midfielder was on his way down after jumping to meet a cross.
Omani official Al Kaf Ahmed Abu Bakar Said made the call and awarded the Tigers the penalty with the scores level at 1-1. Safiq Rahim stepped up and scored the winner before Indra Mahayuddin added a third.
Disgruntled Singapore fans pelted the pitch with bottles of water and toilet rolls to express their displeasure.
After the match, Singapore coach Bernd Stange felt his side were unlucky to lose while Malaysia coach Dollah Salleh agreed with the referee's decision that it was a penalty. TNP analyst and former Singapore international V Sundramoorthy felt the call was harsh.
