Singapore women bowling trio bounce back to win silver at the Asian Games
Singapore bounced back from a poor showing in the doubles to win silver in the women's trios at the Asian Games.
In sixth spot in the 27-team field after yesterday's first block of games, the threesome of Cherie Tan, New Hui Fen and Jazreel Tan rallied today to finish second with 3,753 pinfalls.
They were sandwiched between two South Korean teams in first and third spot.
The trio of Lee Nayoung. Jung Dawun and Son Yunhee won gold with 3,896, while Lee Yeongseung, Jeon Eunhee and Kim Jinsun (3,692) took bronze.
Singapore's other team in the competition – Daphne Tan, Joey Yeo and Shayna Ng – fell from second spot on day one, to finish seventh with 3,041 pinfalls.
The Republic's men's trios teams will contest their second block of trios later in the afternoon.
The team of Keith Saw, Ng Chiew Pang and Lim Chia Loong are fourth and in medal contention, their 1,850 pinfalls just 21 behind third-placed South Korean and 65 behind the leading Japanese team.
The other Singapore trio - Javier Tan, Muhd Jaris Goh and Javier Tan - are 26th, on 1,601.
