Suarez set for Barca bow in friendly
Luis Suarez is set to make his Barcelona debut on Tuesday morning (Aug 19, Singapore time).
The Uruguayan striker has been cleared to train with his new club and take part in friendly matches by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following an appeal against sanctions imposed by Fifa for his infamous bite on Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.
Barca coach Luis Enrique has been impressed with his new signing from Liverpool following two group training sessions and declared his desire to hand Suarez some playing time in a friendly against Mexican club Leon.
Very high standard
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Enrique said: "The impression is that he is a player of a very high standard.
"I know how we play and he fits how we play. I would like to give him some minutes (on Monday).
"He did a great job when he trained alone."
Suarez was handed a four-month ban from all football-related activities for the biting incident.
While an appeal to the CAS to reduce the suspension was unsuccessful, the conditions of the 27-year-old's punishment were relaxed by the Switzerland-based tribune.
