The Yaya Toure saga rumbles on - now he wants to stay for life?
Depending on your tolerance for football sagas, you could either get sick of the one surrounding Yaya Toure's Manchester City birthday snub or savour every succulent word dripping from the mouth of his hilarious agent, Dimitry Seluk.
Well, Birthdaygate isn't going away any time soon. Seluk now claims that his client is perfectly happy to stay at the Etihad Stadium for life, if the Blues can guarantee him a position after his playing days.
The Ukrainian told Sky Sports: "Of course (Yaya would like to stay if he was offered a job). Like Real Madrid did with (Zinedine) Zidane for example. Zidane played, then after that he started working for the club.
"Yaya needs the club in the future. We don't want any more pounds, not a longer contract, nothing like this, only really attention. More attention (paid) to Yaya and Yaya must feel happy at the club - that's the main thing."
Seluk also clarified that Toure's ire over his birthday snub was directed at manager Manuel Pellegrini and other higher-ups at City rather than his teammates.
Familiar tactic
While reports suggest that City's director of football Txiki Begiristain will attempt to find out what's eating Toure during the World Cup, it does look like Seluk, contrary to what he's said, is trying to get a bigger pay packet for Toure.
He succeeded in landing Toure a new contract with a similar tactic last year - by complaining that his Ivorian client's name was not on any shirts in the club's shop and that his picture wasn't being used around the stadium.
For the sake of those tiring of this rather sordid affair, please make up your mind, Yaya. Or at least be honest and say you want more cash.
