Jujitsu exponent Constance wins Asiad silver for Singapore

Singapore’s jujitsu exponent Constance Lien added a silver to the Republic's Asian Games medal tally on Saturday (Aug 25) after reaching the women's 62kg final where she lost 4-2 on points to South Korea's Kira Sung.

The 19-year-old former swimmer, who picked up jujitsu in 2015, was in great form at the Jakarta Convention Center Assembly Hall.

She defeated her first three opponents - Battsogt Buyandelger of Mongolia, Thailand's Sangsirichok Onanong and Indonesia's Julia Simone - all by submission in the Round of 32, Round of 16 and quarter-finals respectively before trouncing Krovyakova Violetta of Turkmenistan 6-0 in the semis.

Jujitsu is making its debut at the Asian Games along with paragliding, roller sport and sport climbing.

With the Asiad approaching its halfway mark, Singapore’s medal tally reads two gold, two silver and six bronze medals.
