An Najwa just can't miss

While all the Malaysians combined superbly to put Brunei to the sword in yesterday's netball semi-final, it was their goal shooter who stood out.

Many in the crowd at the OCBC Arena must have asked: "Has she missed?"

At 1.78 metres, An Najwa Azizan is the tallest player on the Malaysian team and an attacking force hosts Singapore will be particularly wary of in today's blockbuster final.

She has the highest shooting accuracy among the top-four teams of a staggering 91 per cent.

Yesterday, she missed just two of her 24 shots after being brought on in the second half.

When asked her secret, she smiled and said: "When I get the ball, I don't think of the people around me or the crowd or anything and I just focus on throwing the ball in."

She is excited to face Singapore again, after their 35-35 draw in the pool stage.

PERFECT GAME

With the Malaysian flag draped across her shoulders, the 17-year-old said: "(Singapore) are strong, but we are ready and excited and will play to win."

Her coach, Aminah Asaari, has challenged her to play a perfect game and score on every shot, a feat she has already achieved twice here.

"She's a really good goal shooter. Hopefully for tomorrow's game she will do even better than today and achieve 100 per cent shooting accuracy.

"She can do it."
