Three through to silat semis
Three Singapore silat exponents qualified for the semi-finals in their respective classes at the Singapore Expo Hall 2 yesterday.
Nurul Suhaila Saiful started the ball rolling with a 5-0 win over Thailand's Supparat Keawkaew in the Women's Tanding Class D (60-65kg).
Then Sheik Ferdous Sheik Alau'ddin overcame Thai Kuibrohem Kubaha 5-0 in the Men's Tanding Class E (65-70kg).
It was a much closer fight between Sheik Farhan Sheik Alau'ddin and Vietnam's Nguyen Duy Tuyen in the Men's Tanding Class H (80-85kg) though, but the Singaporean eventually eked out a 3-2 win.
The trio, along with two compatriots, will be competing in today's semi-finals.
Abdul Raazig Abdul Rashid was the only Singaporean eliminated yesterday.
He lost 5-0 to Thailand's Pornteb Poolkaew in the Men's Tanding Class D (60-65kg).
