Transfer rumours round-up: Kagawa and Chicarito to Atletico?

The silly season, also known as transfer season, is truly upon us.

We keep our ears close to the Internet to keep abreast of the latest transfer rumours. Here's a round-up of the latest and loudest whisperings on the grapevine.

According to The Guardian, Manchester United are set to trim the squad in the coming weeks.

Players who are rumoured to be moving away are Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Marouane Fellaini, Nani and Anderson.

British newspaper Mirror said that Wilfried Zaha is among the list of players that van Gaal is likely to show the door. It said Spanish champions Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Kagawa and Hernandez to replace Diego Costa and Filipe Luís - in a deal likely worth more than £25 million  (S$52.7 million).

According to the Mirror, Kagawa is making way for van Gaal's real target, Arda Turan.

It seems Manchester United offered  Atletico Madrid £16 million plus Kagawa for the services of the Turkish midfielder.

Elsewhere, French striker Loic Remy, has apparently received an improved contract offer from Queens Park Rangers in a bid to make him stay at Loftus Road reported the London Evening Standard.

This comes after Remy's dream move to Liverpool collapsed, perhaps due to him failing his medical.

Then, there's Pepe Reina. Frozen out at Liverpool, the goalie is close to a move to German champions Bayern Munich.

Bayern's president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in a statement on Bayern's Website said that the Spanish goalkeeper is slated to come have his medical in Munich in the "next few days."

Rummenigge went on to say that Reina will be moving to Bayern, knowing that he will be playing second fiddle to Manuel Neuer who remain Bayern's top custodian.
