Spare a thought for Milan Gajic, who plays for Young Boys in the Swiss Super League.

During his side's season opener against St Gallen on July 19, the Serbian midfielder unleashed a beautifully-taken, unstoppable volley that sailed picturesquely into the back of the net in the 52nd minute.

Unfortunately for Gajic, it was at the wrong end.

St Gallen were threatening to break away when Gajic intervened to get the ball away from his opponents.

As fate would have it, the 27-year-old's swipe at the ball turned out to be such an amazing own goal, lesser strikers can only dream of doing the same at the right end.

While the unfortunate goal gave St Gallen a 2-1 lead, Gajic's blushes were spared by Samuel Affum, who netted the equaliser in the 90th minute.

Next time, try that again at the opposite end, eh Milan?
