School of frock: Game of Thrones style hits the red carpets
Valentino saves the day. We're back in business as the stars manage to pull themselves out of the previous week's fashion rut
OLIVIA PALERMO (A)
An evening honoring Valentino gala in New York City
Gown: Valentino
This heart-stopping creation sent me straight to Game Of Thrones heaven. Pure fashion bliss.
DIANE KRUGER (A-)
An evening honoring Valentino gala in New York City
Gown: Valentino
A close runner-up, only with a cape and a zillion feathers. These darkly romantic pieces from the Fall 2015 collection really are something.
ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO (B+)
Opening of Audemars Piguet Rodeo Drive Boutique in Los Angeles
Pantsuit: Alexandre Vauthier
Clutch: Edie Parker
The combination of Ambrosio and Vauthier usually involves one too many cut-outs, so it's surprising to see the Victoria's Secret Angel opting for a different kind of allure. The white peak lapel ensemble is chic, sharp and still sexy.
CAREY MULLIGAN (B)
British Independent Film Awards in London
Gown: Gucci
You wouldn't expect Mulligan to go there, but I'm glad motherhood injected some sartorial adventurousness in her. I'm firmly on the side of this interesting number, no matter how dizzying the geometric print and random the bird and flowers.
KEIRA KNIGHTLEY (D)
An evening honoring Valentino gala in New York City
Gown and cape: Valentino
Seriously, who died? She's honouring Valentino, not attending his funeral.
BELLA THORNE (F)
THE HATEFUL EIGHT PREMIERE IN LOS ANGELES
Top and skirt: Topshop
Boots: Alice + Olivia
Well, at least she nailed the theme of the movie, because the whole thing is eight kinds of hateful all right. Young people think they can get away with anything, but Thorne is a cautionary tale.
WHO WORE IT BETTER?
JULIANNE HOUGH (Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, Sept 20) V JENNA DEWAN-TATUM (The Hateful Eight premiere in Los Angeles, Dec 7)
Both hotties certainly have the bodies to do justice to these corset-style see-through frocks from Marchesa, but it's the lining - or lack thereof - that makes all the difference. Hough thankfully manages to preserve some modesty, but all I see are the big, black granny panties from Dewan-Tatum's unlined nude version. Surely her undies weren't meant to be the centrepiece?
MOST IMPROVED
CHLOE GRACE MORETZ
Honey, don't waste your youth on mumsy, necktie ruffled blouses - they are totally not your thing. Leave the 70s secretary look alone and live in the present. The 18-year-old fortunately time-travels back to 2015 with this black lace panel patchwork dress, which is way cuter and more age-appropriate.
THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER'S ANNUAL WOMEN IN ENTERTAINMENT BREAKFAST IN LOS ANGELES, DEC 9
Top and pants: Gucci
Shoes: Stuart Weitzman
GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT IN LOS ANGELES, DEC 10
Dress: Valentino
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
SPECIAL MAN-TION
EDDIE REDMAYNE
The Danish Girl premiere in London
Suit: Valentino
Eddie Redmayne, the gift that keeps on giving - just in time for Christmas too. This delightfully festive skinny plaid suit may be his default look of late, but if it ain't broke... Now, if we could just get him under some mistletoe.
