Eric Nam buys out screenings in the US for Crazy Rich Asians

Korean-American singer-songwriter Eric Nam recently bought out entire screenings of Crazy Rich Asians to help ensure the box-office success of the film in its opening week.

The 30-year-old shared the news via Instagram, announcing that he and his brothers did that at a theatre on Aug 16 in their hometown Atlanta, and also on Aug 19 in Minneapolis.

Fans were given free admission to the movies on a first-come, first-serve basis, reported Korean entertainment website allkpop.

Nam explained: "Why? Because we are tired of being under and misrepresented in mainstream media. We are not just tech geeks, maths nerds and ninja assassins. We are brilliant, beautiful, sexy, hot, and much more."

He encouraged people to show up, adding: "And no, you don't need to be Asian to watch this movie, enjoy the showing, or be a part of this movement. The more diverse the merrier."

Nam will be in Singapore next month to host HallyuPopFest 2018.

The region's largest K-pop music festival and the first music extravaganza of its kind in South-east Asia, the three-day event will bring more than 20 of South Korea's most popular acts to our shores.

These include Taeyeon, Wanna One, NCT 127, BtoB, Apink, Momoland and more.

It will be held at Singapore Indoor Stadium, Sept 7 to 9, 12pm to 11pm.

We have five pairs of HallyuPopFest 2018 tickets worth $198 each to give away, courtesy of H.A.H Entertainment.
