10-year-old Penang boy who choked on 'eyeball gummy' dies
Mr Mohamad Fakhruddin Mohamad Fikri could not hold back his tears as he recalled the moments leading up to the death of his 10-year-old son Mohamad Fahmi Hafiz.
Malaysia's Berita Harian reported that Fahmi died at about 11pm on Feb 20.
Fahmi choked on an "eyeball gummy" he had bought outside school on Feb 18.
He collapsed in class at about 2.30pm and his teacher administered CPR on him but Fahmi did not respond.
He was taken unconscious to Penang Hospital and was in a critical condition at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Fahmi's four-year-old sister Nufa Fakhira was also at his bedside when he died.
"Nufa cried and kept calling out to her brother," said Mr Fakhruddin.
"She wanted him to go swimming with her."
The 35-year-old added: "These hands that raised him will be the same ones that will bathe and shroud him.
"Thank you to everyone who prayed for my son."
