Body of missing French tourist found in Tioman
The body of French tourist Jerome Philippe Laurent was found this afternoon (Sept 4) by a search-and-rescue team.
The tourist had been missing since Tuesday, after going snorkelling near the Berjaya Tioman Resort at about 3pm that afternoon.
According to Rompin district police chief DSP Johari Jahaya, the 24-year-old Laurent's body was found 300m from where he was reportedly missing, reported The Malay Mail.
He told the Bernama news agency that a friend of Laurent's has identified the body, and it will be sent to Rompin Hospital for a post-mortem.
In June, Briton Gareth David Huntley was found dead on Tioman Island after going on a jungle trek.
