'Everyone deserves a second chance, agree?': Lazada rider returns umbrella after viral video, owner offers him a drink
Some TikTok viewers remain sceptical, but many praise the couple's kindness and the courier's effort to make amends.
"Everyone deserves a second chance, agree?"
That was the sentiment shared by TikTok user @littlecozymomentswithme, whose son's umbrella had been taken by a Lazada delivery man on Oct 16.
The courier has since personally returned the umbrella, as shown in a new clip posted by the user on Oct 17.
In the 35-second video, the user's husband can be seen holding the black umbrella at their front gate while the delivery man snaps a photo, presumably to document its return.
The user and her husband then step forward to offer the rider a canned drink.
In response to comments, she clarified that her husband was "furious" at first but eventually "softened" when the rider appeared apologetic.
Not everyone's convinced
While some praised the delivery man for doing the right thing, others weren't so quick to forgive.
One user, @user86275228539, questioned: "Would he return if not for the TikTok video?" With 221 likes, this is the most liked comment at press time.
Others shared similar scepticism. User Elliot Smurf writes in the comments: "Another case of whoopsies I'm sorry only coz I got caught on camera."
But many still see the bright side
Some commenters tried to put themselves in the rider's shoes.
"Maybe he was only borrowing as it was raining at that point of time?" suggested user A.I.
Others agreed, noting the courage it took for the delivery man to personally return the umbrella and apologise.
Some also praised the original poster and her husband for being "kind and forgiving" to the rider, saying that being met with kindness might motivate the rider to become a "better person".
