Amateur MMA fighter taps himself out to avoid hurting his opponent
Amateur fighter Mike Pantangco was absolutely dominating his opponent Jeremy Rasner in the Prison City Fight League in Michigan reported FOX News.
Whatever Pantangco threw at the clearly unmatched Rasner, it landed.
Then with 14 seconds left in the first round Pantangco did something quite remarkable.
That's right he tapped out.
When asked later by television presenters from Inside MMA on why he did that, Pantangco replied:
"I just feel that there's no point fighting him because he did not train against me...we're amateur fighters. We don't get money, we don't get paid. I know that the only thing (sic) I'm going to finish the fight is him to go to hospital or get hurt. I just feel terrible so I'm just going to give him the win."
When the video was posted on Inside MMA's Facebook page, it garnered mixed reviews.
While they were a lot of comments praising Pantangco's move saying it was great sportsmanship.
There were some who are saying that by tapping out early he is actually disrespecting his opponent.
What do you think?
Did Pantangco did something highlight worthy or was he just being rude by tapping out so early?
