School of frock: Mission Blackhole
Did everyone suddenly fall into a black hole of fashion?
That's the only possible explanation behind some of the mind-numbingly boring choices this week.
It was left to the Mission: Impossible premieres to pick up the slack.
REBECCA FERGUSON (B)
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION PREMIERE IN VIENNA, AUSTRIA
Gown: Elie Saab
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Tom Cruise's latest leading lady of the Mission: Impossible film franchise had her big chance to make a statement, but haven't we seen this standard red side-slit gown a hundred times before? It's good enough, but she should've been great.
HILARIA BALDWIN (B-)
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION PREMIERE IN NEW YORK, US
Dress: Not known
Mind you, Mrs Alec Baldwin just had a baby six weeks ago. It's a small miracle she could summon herself out of the house and squeeze herself into this sweet, flattering strapless white peplum frock, all the while rubbing her post-pregnancy glow in our faces.
ELSA PATAKY (C-)
VACATION PREMIERE IN LOS ANGELES, US
Dress: Alberta Ferretti
Shoes: Brian Atwood
The bleached blonde hair, cheap-looking blush lingerie dress, nude heels - all those neutral tones are washing her out big-time. For someone who's married to Chris Hemsworth, she needs to step up her game.
EVA LONGORIA (C)
SCREENING OF KAHLIL GIBRAN'S THE PROPHET IN LOS ANGELES, US
Dress: Not known
Now that Desperate Housewives has been off the air for years, I'm trying to figure out what makes Longoria relevant in 2015. Especially when she insists on dressing like it's 2004.
SALMA HAYEK (C)
SCREENING OF KAHLIL GIBRAN'S THE PROPHET IN LOS ANGELES, US
Dress: Not known
Shoes: Gucci
Wake me up once Hayek realises she forgot to fix her hair after washing her face. The rest of her is still a snooze.
PERREY REEVES (D)
VACATION PREMIERE IN LOS ANGELES, US
Dress: Michael Kors
Bag: Serapian
Remember those days when people like Calista Flockhart, Lara Flynn Boyle and Portia de Rossi were bags of bones? Well, it looks like the Entourage actress wants to join the club. The hideous floral pattern is too much for someone so emaciated, while the demure pink bag and nude suede sandals do not even belong in the same universe. Somebody please throw a jacket - and a cheeseburger - at her.
WHO WORE IT BETTER?
The model cousins both turned up in clingy, nondescript LBDs, but Hailey's ahead because sexy tanned legs and killer lace-up strappy heels always do the trick.
IRELAND BALDWIN
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION PREMIERE IN NEW YORK, JULY 27
Dress: Herve Leger
HAILEY BALDWIN
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION PREMIERE IN NEW YORK, US, JULY 27
Dress: Elizabeth & James
MOST IMPROVED
DASCHA POLANCO
I can't take anyone who copies Kim Kardashian's style seriously, but the Orange Is The New Black starlet's punishingly tight white cut-out gown is downright classy compared to her previous laughable attempt at sexing things up. Girl, pop that booty somewhere else before I smack it.
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION PREMIERE IN NEW YORK, JULY 27
Dress: Jay Godfrey
SOUTHPAW PREMIERE IN NEW YORK, JULY 20
Outfit: Not known
SPECIAL MAN-TION
TOM CRUISE
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION PREMIERE IN LONDON, UK
Suit: Giorgio Armani
The mission? To put all middle-aged men to shame, with your full head of hair, youthful good looks and dapper grey three-piece ensemble. I'd say Cruise, 53, accomplishes it with ridiculous ease.
"It doesn’t matter what’s going on in your life, but you’ve got to show your best self to the world."
— US actress Reese Witherspoon on the lesson her well-dressed grandmother gave her on style
